May 9th ice update.

Looks like most of the smaller lakes are completely open now. As for the main lake, Howey Bay was pretty well solid yesterday. Today, however, we had more blue skies and a tremendous amount of wind. From the looks of it from camp, the is open water on our end of Red Lake. The north wind has blown a huge ice float into our narrows. I thought it was going to make it all the way to us but it seems to be stuck in the bottle neck.

Parker Lake completely clear of ice.

Look close...the suckers are running in Parker Creek

I caught three big perch on the dock today, two were
over  10 inches. This fat female measured 10.5 inches (released).

The big Pike are in the area as well. I have hooked 4 very heavy ones
but all managed to bite me off or find the dock posts.

It is hard to tell from the picture, but on the far side of the ice
there appears to be open water.
White caps in the bay all day long!
